Characteristics of the field:
The field of Food Design is a modern approach to creating food, in line with current trends in healthy eating. You will learn to design food with high health-promoting values, and in accordance with the idea of "from farm to table". You will learn the importance of rational nutrition for human health, which is aligned with modern packaging and visual presentation of food products. Food design is understood as the entirety of obtaining food raw materials, their processing and storage, accompanied with the consumption of food, particularly with a low degree of processing. A food designer is aware of the importance of short chains in the distribution of food products as well as modern packaging and visual presentation of food products for the effectiveness of sales and success on the food market.

What will you study?
During your education, you will gain knowledge and skills in the following subjects: Propaedeutics of plant production, Basics of packaging design, Design in food packaging, Breeding progress in animal production, Basics of animal production, Commodity science of animal products, Biological progress in plant production, Acquisition and properties of legumes and oilseeds, Acquisition and properties of starch and sweetener raw materials, Acquisition and properties of herbs, Modern methods of vegetable and fruit production, Zero waste in plant production, Short food supply chains, Genetically modified food, Molecular techniques in food research, Legal conditions of borderline food and products, Methods of assessing the quality of food raw materials, Quality management systems and food safety, Food labelling and certification, Human nutrition with elements of bromatology, Basic processes in food production, Entomophagy. We have also prepared an interesting offer of elective subjects: Dietary supplements and borderline products, Beekeeping, Aquaculture, Visual advertising, Beverage design, Culinary use of wild plants. You will have the opportunity to complete a 4-week work practice and take part in interesting field activities. As in every first-cycle field of study, there are also basic, humanities, economic and social subjects, as well as foreign languages and PE.

Where will you work after graduation?
After graduation, you will be able to run your own farm (organic or conventional), agricultural retail trade, direct sales of agri-food products, run or work in an organic or grocery store, deal with agricultural processing, run agritourism or educational farms, work in gastronomy, particularly related to regional cuisine, in vegetable and fruit storage rooms, food processing plants, become an intendant, work in the sanitary and epidemiological station, in Trade Inspection, Veterinary Inspection, Agricultural and Food Quality Inspection, in research laboratories, herbal plants, in trade in raw materials and food products, and import of spices and stimulants, in state and EU administration offices (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development,, EFSA), promotional and influencer activities in the food industry.

Why should you study food design?
This is a future-oriented field of study that offers a wide range of job opportunities as well as running your own business related to food production. The idea of the field is related to the long-lasting trend of natural, organic food with high nutritional and health-promoting values, produced with respect for the environment and the creation of short supply chains while recognizing the importance of quality and attractiveness of packaging. The interesting and unique study program in Poland introduces a number of innovative elements, the aim of which is to provide graduates with broad and up-to-date competences sought in the labour market.
