AGROTECHNOLOGY

AGROTECHNOLOGY – first cycle, full-time studies
(6TH qualification framework)

Semesters: 7
Profile: Academic
Limit: 30 students

Characteristics of the field:
Agrotechnology. The innovative nature of this field of study lies in the combination of the natural foundations of sustainable agriculture with the elements of modern technologies from such areas as: agrochemistry, agronomy, agribusiness, agroengineering and agrotronics. Educational areas in this faculty include the following three: for carbon agriculture (eco-schematic), for precision agriculture (the so-called 4.0 intelligent agriculture), and for diagnosing the condition of crops and plants. Agrotechnology is a field of study dealing with advanced plant and animal production technologies with the use of modern scientific achievements. Our particularly well-selected teaching staff is people with passion who are willing and able to share their knowledge and skills, and to carry out their research in the discipline of agriculture and horticulture to the highest level (we have obtained category A in national science evaluation). In addition, as an Agrotechnology student, you will have a large influence on what you want to learn, because specialist subjects can be chosen and adapted to your needs.

What will you study?
During your education, you will study a selection of major subjects, for example: "Cultivation technologies", "Mapping soil variability", "Agricultural machinery market and the principles of their effective use", or "Theoretical and practical aspects of drone piloting". You will have the opportunity to choose 13 out of 44  specialized subjects collected in special modules. These modules include content from biology sciences, geochemistry, diagnostics and plant protection, remote sensing in agricultural systems, agribusiness and a few others.
Of course, as in every field of study, you will have classes in basic filed subjects too. Among those are: "Botany and plant ecology" or "Microbiology". There are also general knowledge and skills subjects to study, among which are: foreign languages, "Interpersonal communication and negotiation" or "Introduction to entrepreneurship".
All the selected subjects are not only cognitively interesting, but above all they will equip you with the skills and competences needed on the modern labour market.

Where will you work after graduation?
Modern agricultural production is an advanced industry of producing not only consumer goods, but also services in the agricultural and food industry, and in consulting and managing farms. It is estimated that the labour market in the agricultural sector, mainly developing in rural areas and small towns, in which this field of study fits, generates over a million jobs and is looking for specialists armed with agrotechnological knowledge. As a graduate, you don't have to worry about your future source of income. Most often you will find a job as an agronomist, farm manager, an owner – capable of running a farm, training advisor in centres and companies from the agricultural industry, sales representative in the field of agro- products, specialist in cultivation technology, in plant protection and trade in agricultural produce, a specialist in agricultural insurance and many others.

Why should you study Agrotechnology?
Agrotechnology is an original, modern and interesting field of study that appears for the first time in the region where agriculture is highly technologically advanced and has great potential for development. It is here that the engineering staff has been educated for over 50 years, and for 100 years at the technical level for agriculture. Here, traditions are connected with innovation, and the associated teaching staff are people focused on interactive cooperation with high school students, university students and the economic environment. Our teachers and the range of subjects are selected so that both people with natural preferences and more technical ones can study this field. We have selected the most important and useful aspects of knowledge in professional activity in order to acquire practical competences and the ability to adapt to the needs of the labour market.
You will earn a number of certificates, e.g. Certificate of Competence of BSP Pilot (drone pilot) or a driving license for a tractor. You will have the opportunity to learn about issues applicable to the most modern production systems, GPS techniques, decision-making and consulting programs, both from the design, executive and operational side. You will learn different aspects of precision farming in confrontation with traditional farming. We provide you with apprenticeships in leading companies in the agricultural sector. Everyone will find something for themselves, both in terms of the place of the work practice and the preferred specificity of the activity.
